Saturday, April 26...

A few different angles of the mechanical room.  As you can see most of the parts are in.  See that little barrel in the center corner?  That's the water heater!  It seems so little for the size of the building.

The covered stairs going into the mechanical room.   Come winter, we are going to be so happy we ended up covering this!  Can you imagine slip sliding down these stairs?!  It was a disaster this past winter!

They have started excavating around the church property.  Putting in pipes, sloping and doing all sorts of nifty things.

The piles of dirt are huge along the property!

In case I hadn't taken any before excavating pictures, I decided to take a few. ;-)

This is between the church and house.  The dumpster that has been there the whole project is now gone!  Makes it look so much nicer.

Going over a few things with the guy doing the excavating.

Trimming has started!

Piles of trim waiting to be put up.

Most of this pile is being used for windows.  I love the dark stain, it looks so beautiful!!

Boxes (not sure this is what they are called) waiting to be put in around the windows.

Some of the bustle around the church.

Todd and Art started building the pulpit.

I decided after watching them for a while, they make a great team!!

This work is time consuming and all about the details, from sanding and glueing to drying.  All of it.

Timmy was helping cut pieces for the pulpit.

These saws are a confusing mess to me!  Angles, lengths, speed all combined to do a cut.  Good thing I'm not building the church, it would be an absolute disaster!!

One of the windows finished.  So beautiful!

Making more of the boxes.  There is probably a better term?  Could they be window casings?!  I don't know….

A few of the guys were sanding the beams!  Whew, what a job!  Glad I can say I don't have a clue how to sand. :)

Details.

The dirt piles make a wonderful playground for these boys!

These guys were putting up gutters.

Sam was connecting all those pipes or should I say pex that are dangling to his left, into the manifold.  This is for the in floor heat.  He was letting the boys expand the pipes, apparently it's harder than it looks. :)

Putting in some sort of filter system.

These little knobs (flow balancing valves) play a part in heating the church. Fascinating to me!  They will control the speed in which the glycol will travel.  Technology…. wow!

Here's the manifold.

For those plumbers out there, you might find this interesting. :)

Back to trimming and building.

Glueing parts of the pulpit together.  You first cut little notches in the wood, then put those biscuits in with glue, then squish the wood together.

A few pictures of the process.

My oldest is just as intrigued as I am by the whole process.

Various parts of the pulpit glued and clamped.

Ladies bring lunch on Saturday.  Alli is supervising and enforcing portion control.  jk. :)

Doesn't that window look great?!  Another step closer to complete.

After snapping a million at the church, I stopped in at Bud's.

This crew was working on staining doors and frames.

Naomi was showing the guys how it's done.  If they followed her direction according to this picture, they would probably just spin circles confused. :)

I actually think this is Bud's trim drying?!

Picture overload of Naomi and Bud visiting.  :) Naomi had a lot to say and Bud was a good listener.

Lads is a good listener too.

A few kept right on working while the visiting went on.

They finished the doors and frames and started in on the benches.   They are looking so so nice!!

Kuddos to you painters!  After 15 minutes or so, I could not handle the smell anymore!  I tasted stain the rest of the day, pew!

A million pictures later…and a small update.
